Peyton, Lloyd E. WAUNAKEE/ CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Lloyd E. Peyton, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007. He was born on Aug. 30, 1924, on a farm in Kennebec, S.D., to Fred and Monte Peyton and spent his childhood in Volga and Brookings, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and then graduated with his bachelors and masters degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. On June 24, 1949, he married Kathryn Schwartz in Volga, S.D., and together they raised five children in homes in Wisconsin and Iowa. His professional career was spent primarily in the insurance industry in Green Bay, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but the focus of his life was his family. In Cedar Rapids he was a member of El Kahir Shrine and regularly worked with the Hospital Dads program transporting ill children to Shriners Hospitals in Minneapolis and Chicago. Lloyd was active in Aldersgate Methodist Church in Urbandale, Iowa, and Shueyville Methodist Church in Shueyville, Iowa, before moving to Westshire Village in Westport to be closer to family. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church at the time of his death. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; son, Douglas (Diane) of Bettendorf, Iowa; twin daughters, Debra (Greg) Killian of Middleton, and Diane (Richard) McAnally of Bettendorf, Iowa; and sons, David (Elenie) of Winter Haven, Fla., and Steven (Karen) of Middleton. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, Brad, Kristy, Nicholas, Kevin, Megan and Ryan Peyton, Brent, Melissa and Jeff Killian, and David, Ryan and Michael McAnally. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, LaNeva and Orville Narum. Funeral services will be held at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6101 University Ave., Madison at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, with the Rev. Harold Zimmick presiding. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, and also on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or any Shriners hospital.
