Acker, Lorraine Rose (Meffert) WAUNAKEE-Lorraine Rose (Meffert) Acker, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Waunakee Manor on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007. She was born in Ashton, on June 5, 1921, to Mathias and Clara (Lenerz) Meffert. She married Albert F. Acker on March 4, 1943, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ashton. She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church and 5 - 0 Club in Middleton. For many years she visited the home bound with weekly communion. Upon retiring from farming she and Albert volunteered for RSVP (Meals on Wheels) program. Lorraine was strong in her faith and dedicated to her daily rosary. Holidays and family gatherings were a highlight and very important to her. She spent many happy times playing cards with friends and family. She was a dedicated Brewers fan and loved to make desserts. She is survived by her seven children, James (Letty) of Waunakee, Robert (Beverly) of Poynette, Gary (Shelia) of Waunakee, Anita Allison of Madison, Alan of Middleton, Karen (Marv) Greiber of Waunakee, and Luann (Steve) Chandler of Madison; 14 grandchildren, Paul (Jolene) Acker, Randy Acker, Renee (Fred) Ciccione, Melissa (fiance, Chad Koci) Acker, Wendy (Greg) Sprecher, Tammy Acker, Kelly (Art) Endres, Matthew and Michael Allison, Ashley, Bridget and Devon Greiber, Casie and Zach Chandler; 16 great-grandchildren; and three loving siblings, Henrietta Wipperfurth, Stanley (Armella) Meffert of Waunakee, and Alice Pulvermacher of Princeton. Surviving in-laws, Dorothy Ballweg of DeForest, Martha Schwarz of Middleton, Priscilla Karls of Madison, Carrie Meier and Mary Ellen Acker of Waunakee. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert; her parents; son-in-law, Kenneth Allison; sisters/brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Albin Ziegler, Severa and Henry Ziegler, and Jeanette and John Marx; brothers-in-law, Victor Wipperfurth and Norman Pulvermacher, John and Sylvester Acker, Leo Ballweg, Ed Schwarz, Arnold Karls and Leonard Meier; and sister-in-law, Bernadette Acker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at ST.BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 Univeristy Ave., Middleton, and also on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to Middleton Outreach Ministry or charity to be determined by the family at a later date. A special thank you to the staff at the Waunakee Manor for their kind and gentle care given to our Mother the past five months. Thank you for being our Mom and teaching us to be kind and gentle!
