David Jensen

Jensen, David R. MIDDLETON - David R. Jensen, age 69, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Leo and Edna (Bertram) Jensen. Dave was united in marriage to Barbara Lee Flaherty on Dec. 29, 1962, in Davenport, Iowa. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, where he earned his B.S. degree. Dave was employed by General Electric, Milwaukee from 1963 to 1973. He worked for divisions of DEC International as a comptroller from 1973 until his retirement in 2002. Dave has worked part-time for St. Bernard?s Church the past four years. Dave, Barb and family have been residents of Middleton for 34 years and active members of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church. First and foremost, Dave was a family man. He spent many good times with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. The children called him ?Mr. Fix-It Man?. They called upon him often to repair or build something around their homes. His hobbies included woodworking, collecting old time radio tapes, going to classic car shows, watching his grandchildren and feeding the birds. Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children and seven grandchildren, John (Lisa), Caylee and Taylor Jensen of Wausau, Michael (Pamela), Jackson, Megan and Lindsay Jensen of Spring Green, Elizabeth (Peter), Samantha and Mitchell Corning of Middleton; two brothers, Jack (Mary Jo) Jensen and Dick (Caryl) Jensen; two sisters, Nancy (Louis) Bakeris and Sue (Al) Way; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Edna; two brothers, Tom and Leo Jr.; and five sisters, Helen, Frances, Elizabeth, Joanne and Diane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD?S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack and Monsignor Joseph P. Higgins concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Bernard?s Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, and also on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
