Dorothy Pierce

Pierce, Dorothy MONONADorothy Pierce, age 80, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at HospiceCare. She was born on Nov. 28, 1926, in Madison, the daughter of John and Dorothy Friis. Dorothy married Arnold Pierce in March 1945. Dorothy enriched everyones life that was lucky enough to know her. Her contagious sense of humor showed through her sparkling eyes and smiling face. Dorothy?s engaging spirit drew into her life numerous friends, neighbors and family. She will be missed by her friends at Klinke Cleaners, the Midmoor Road neighborhood, her friends from St. Stephens Lutheran Church, her family and multitude of devoted friends and relatives. Listing all of you would fill pages. Dorothy enjoyed an avid interest in antiques and this was evidenced by her wonderful collections. Her meticulous garage sales were a treasure trove of delight for Monona residents. Dorothys passion was not in material things, but for her love of family and friends. A dream was fulfilled in Dorothys life last year when she was able to purchase her PT Cruiser. The vanity plate "Beauti" was so appropriate for her beloved car, but we know that the true Beauti was the little sprite of a woman in the drivers? seat. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Marsha (Jim) Klinke of Madison, Cary (Loree) Pierce of Monona and Rick (Cindy) Pierce of Aurora, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Olafsson, Steven (Rebecca) Klinke, Richard (Katherine) Klinke, Charlie Pierce, Dan Pierce, Brian Shubat and Stuart and Jordan and Andrew Palmer; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Friis; a sister, Kathryn Triggs; and a sister-in-law, Janice Friis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her parents; a brother, Earl Friis; sister-in-law, Delores Friis and brother-in-law, Romie Triggs. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHENS LUTHERAN CHRUCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, with the Rev. Nick Utphall presiding. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 and also on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church or to HospiceCare Inc.
