Obituary
Karasek, Leo F. MADISON - Leo F. Karasek, age 86, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Karmenta Center. He was born on July 7, 1921 in Fennimore, the son of Frank and Eunice (Smith) Karasek. Leo married Dorothy Vander Geest on Jan. 22, 1946 in Fennimore. Leo served his country during World War II with the Army for 36 months in the European Theater. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as an engineer retiring after 36 years. Leo was also a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the VFW and the Eagles Club. He and his family built and operated the Duck Creek Campground for over 20 years. After Leosretirement he and Dorothy traveled throughout the country. Leo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; seven children, Carol (Pat) Tesar of Edgerton, Ruth (William) Anderson of Superior, Linda (Dave) Jones of Poynette, David of Stoughton, Roger of Madison, Dirk (Mary) of Oregon, Brenda (Hans) Lein of Edgerton; 11 grandchildren; sister, Micky Costantino; brother, Ray Karasek; and sister-in-law, Darlene Karasek. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eulalia; and a brother, Fay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave. with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, WI 53704 or to the Karmenta Activity Fund, 4502 Milwaukee St.,Madison, WI 53714. The family would like to thank the staff at Karmenta and Father Mike for all of their special care and compassion.
