Obituary

Beck, Lester P. MADISON - Lester P. Beck, age 91, died on Sunday, July 22, 2007, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on Nov. 10, 1915, in Bloom Township, Richland County, the son of the late George and Lescinda (Weeden) Beck. Les married Margaret Krantz Harms in 1954. After 44 years of marriage, Margaret died in August 1998. Les was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country at the end of World War II. He was a farmer and also worked in maintenance most of his life, including eight years at the Badger Ordnance Plant near Baraboo. On retirement he enjoyed golfing, bowling and especially the Dane County Senior Olympics. Lester was a member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church of Middleton. Survivors are his step-son, Phil Harms of Oregon; two step-grandchildren, Paul of San Diego, Calif. and Patrice (Doug) Leikness of Madison and a step-great-grandson, Ryan. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Erma Burns, Helen Frye and Erla Beck; brothers, Aaron, Lee and George and a step-son, Tom Harms. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD?S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007 with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Pine Bluff. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton and also on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
