Obituary

Paul, Randy J. MONONA - Randy J. Paul died on Friday, July 20, 2007. Randy was born in Madison on March 12, 1954, to George and Annette (Campbell) Paul. He married Lydia Bouffiou on Aug. 30, 1980, in Madison. Randy graduated from UW-Madison in 1976, with a B.A. degree in political science and economics, and in 1979, he received his Juris Doctor from Madison. Upon graduating, Randy practiced law for several years. Most recently, Randy was employed by Plastic Ingenuity, Cross Plains. A lifelong resident of Monona, Randy was a reservoir of local history, contributing his knowledge as a member of the Historic Blooming Grove Historical Society. He served three terms on the Monona City Council, then as municipal judge of Monona from 1999 until his death. Randy was a man of depth and integrity, wit and generosity. His greatest treasure was his family. He enjoyed spending Saturday mornings with his father, George, his favorite accomplice in the renovation of antique cars. In addition to his father, George (Wilma Noot) Paul, Randy is mourned by his beloved wife, Lydia; four children, Chris (Jim) Marckesano, Bennett (Sonabai) Kanhai, Jet (Monique) Carpenter and Joshua Paul; his grandchildren, Cristeen, Ally, Emily, Luke and Sam; his sister, Donna (Jess) Martinez; brothers, Mike (Dianna) Paul and Gary Paul; father-in-law, Russ (Dorothy) Bouffiou; brothers-in-law, Tom (Terri), Russ and Mike Bouffiou; sisters-in-law, Laura (Ron) Jacobson, Jo Graylow, Kitty Bouffiou and Shelley Bouffiou; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nephews; and his buddy, Paulie, the cat. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Annette; nephew, Gabe Martinez; mother-in-law, Mary Bouffiou; and brother-in-law, Richard Graylow. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007, with Tammy Martens presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007. The family suggests contributions be made to a local food bank or charity of the donors choice, in lieu of flowers. It?s so hard to say goodbye to someone we all need to always be there. Yet as much as we long to never move on, it helps to know your love is everywhere. We love you so much, Papa. Rest in peace. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I go to church with Wilma and George. I do not know what the details are, other than your hearts are broken today. If there is any comfort in knowing, you are all in my prayers.. and thoughts.

We are saddened to hear about Randy's passing. He was a very patient and tolerant neighbor! I'm sorry I only started to get to know him shortly before we recently moved, but glad of the friendly conversations we did get to have. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
