Obituary

Remy, Kathleen E. "Kay" MONONA - Kathleen Remy passed away at HospiceCare on Friday, July 6, 2007, after a long struggle living with the effects of brain cancer. She was born in McHenry, Ill., the ninth child of Philip and Agnes (Sheehan) Meyers on March 3, 1935, and grew up in Highland. She married Ronald Remy on Oct. 8, 1960. Kathleen had a long career in Wisconsin state service. She worked for several Wisconsin governors, starting with Gaylord Nelson. Kathleen served as Governor Tommy Thompson?s personal secretary during his first term in office and was later appointed executive assistant for the Wisconsin Lottery at its inception. She was a creative and stylish woman who sewed, quilted, and gardened. She was an opera buff, a voracious reader, and a great cook. A longtime member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, she was active in the Council of Catholic Women and the St. Annes Society. Kathleen was a caring and supportive wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by those around her. She is survived by her husband; her children, Chris (Lynne) Remy and Melanie Remy; two grandchildren, Clare and Gregory Remy; her brothers and sisters, John (Pat) Meyers, James (Judy) Meyers, Geraldine (Joe) Yanochik, and Margaret (Roy) Odem; sister-in-law, Audrey Meyers; brother-in-law, Carl Richgels; and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers; sisters; and in-laws, Bernadette (Glenn) Muldowney, Lois (Bill) Imhoff, Phyllis (John Powers), Philip (Maxine) Meyers, Patricia Meyers, Mildred Richgels, Arnold Meyers and Tom Meyers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. with Father John Meinholz presiding. Burial will be at St. Raphaels Frenchtown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
