Diederich, Catherine M. "Cathy" MADISON - Catherine M. "Cathy" Diederich, age 54, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, June 16, 2007. She was born March 9, 1953, four minutes after her twin sister, Chris, in Madison. Cathy graduated from Madison LaFollette High School with the class of 1971. She was a resident in the Madison area her entire life. In the many positions she held, including working for the state of Wisconsin, Cathy was respected as a hard worker and loved for her sense of humor and loyalty to all she knew. During the last decade she was unable to continue working for health reasons. She loved to collect decorative eggs, bells and other treasures, Mickey Mouse, being her favorite. Cathy had an artistic flair, especially for decorating and was well known for her meticulous housekeeping. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. All who knew Cathy were well aware of her sensitive and emotional side which was a great tribute, but also led to some of the struggles she encountered during her lifetime. She is survived by her father, George Powers of Madison; twin sister, Chris (Steve) Ascher of Madison; sisters, Georgia (James) Eisele of Madison and Rena Rae of Oregon; brother, John (Jan) Diederich of Belleville; niece and nephews, Justin, Jessie and Jason; special friend and companion, Dave Dunkley of Madison; and other relatives and friends. Cathy was preceded in death by her mom, Phyllis; and a brother, Ray. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding.
