Woodlee, Jolene MIDDLETON - Jolene Woodlee, age 71, of Middleton, went to live with Our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born in Akron, Ohio, May 30, 1936, the seventh child of 10 to Bertha (Murphy) and Newton Moss. Jolene graduated in 1954 from Kenmore High School. She married the love of her life, James Woodlee, on April 23, 1955, a loving union which lasted 44 years. While raising six daughters, Jolene worked in various fields retiring from Rayovac after 19 years. She enjoyed giving back to the community through her involvement with various church committees, United Way, Special Olympics, Eastern Star, RSVP, a Board Member of Middleton Junction Cemetery, Foster Grandparent Program and Middletons Good Neighbor Festival Committee, in which she was the recipient of a Good Neighbor Festival award in 1984. Jolene enjoyed spending time with family, lunches and theatre with her friends, crafts, bowling, cards, an avid Badgers and Packers fan and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Jolene was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, serving on several committees. Her legacy will carry on by her survivors; her six daughters, Diane (Glenn) Rees of Houston, Texas, Janie (Jim) Boullion of Waunakee, Dede (Russ) Birrenkott of Middleton, Jennifer (Kevin) Roth of Middleton, Debra Woodlee of Madison and Jodi (Ross) Thieme of Middleton; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon and David Rees, Jason (Elise) and Megan McFarlane, Amanda and Jacob Birrenkott, Whitney and Matthew Roth and Nolan and Calvin Thieme; and siblings, Helen Lebkuecher, Mary Crowder, Lillian Blackburn, James Moss and Gary Moss. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Harold Moss, Jack Moss, Doris (Moss) Seese and Larry Moss. Funeral services will be held at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6101 University Ave., Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007, with the Rev. Harold Zimmick presiding. Burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the GUNDERSON WEST FUENRAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friends may also call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Evans and Dr. D. Hei, HospiceCare and Independent Living for all their support and compassionate care to Jolene and her family. A special thank you to her niece, Peggy Carpenter, for all the love and care she gave our mother. Memorials may be given to HospiceCare. Aunt Jolene was such a wonderful woman. She will be greatly missed by her family and many others. I am glad that she is in a better place.
