Obituary

Glaeser, Ann M. MADISON - Ann M. Glaeser, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the Ellen and Peter Johnson HospiceCare Center. She was born on July 4, 1922, on the family farm near Butternut, the daughter of Sebastian and Crezencia "Grace" (Schimpel) Bock. Ann attended grade school at Agenda in Price County and graduated from Butternut High School with honors. She married Carl "Shorty" Glaeser on June 13, 1949 in Butternut. They moved to Madison in 1949. Ann had an 18 year career with Wisconsin Bell, Ameritech, SBC and ATand T and was active with the Telephone Pioneers. Carl passed away unexpectedly in 1970 and she raised her five children on her own. Ann was a charter member of St. Dennis Catholic Church where she enjoyed volunteering for school lunches, playground supervisor, working at the fish fries, the annual festivals and served with the altar society for many years. Ann is survived by her five children, Margaret "Peggy" Glaeser of Milwaukee, Tom (Jodie) of McFarland, Tim of Tomahawk, Patrick (Barb) of Albany, and Michael (Penny) of Charlottesville, Va.; nine grandchildren, Megan, Colleen, Kyle, Jenna, Nick, Ryan, Kate, Zach and Gretchen; sisters-in-law, Caroline (Glaeser) Bonino, Shirley Glaeser and Florence Bock; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Shorty"; her parents; and a brother, Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road with Father Kent Schmitt and Father Mick Moon con-celebrating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church. Ann will forever be remembered for her gracious, kind and caring ways. She was a blessing to all. She spent her entire life helping others and if she wasnt "putzing," she was saying her rosary. She was always sacrificing for others, never asking anything for herself. Her family and neighbors have described her as a saint or an angel on earth. She shared countless "hog bars" with all those who knew her, whether it was for a church gathering, at someones home, for a haircut or with all those wonderful people who visited her in her Major Avenue home. Ann was blessed with wonderful care from HospiceCare, Inc., first in her sons home in Albany, with many special volunteers and aides and her special nurse angel Kathy Van Veldhuisen, then her most compassionate inpatient care givers at the Ellen and Peter Johnson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Ann most wanted to see her mother in heaven to find out how well she did in raising her children and it is fitting that she waited for Mothers Day to join her. Ann will continue to bless our lives until we meet again. We love you "Mum" and "Grandma Ann".
