Richard Roman

Roman, Richard F. PRAIRIE DU SAC/ MONONA - Richard F. Roman, age 90, died on Thursday, April 5, 2007. He was born on April 16, 1916, in Racine, to William and Martha (Lund) Roman. Richard graduated from Racine High School and Nichols Institute, School of Optometry. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1951, in the medical corps. Richard married Leona Wakeman on Aug. 26, 1940. He was self-employed as an optometrist at Roman Fitzgerald for 41 years. Richard was a member of Monona United Methodist Church. He is survived by his children, Richard Roman of Prairie du Sac, Kathleen (Keith) Peters of Katy, Texas, Susan Giese of Medford and Rona (Julian) Case of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jim Blum. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, in 1996; his parents; a daughter, Debbie Roman Blum; a sister, Florence (Glen) Woodward; and brother, Roy (Gail) Roman. A memorial service will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, at noon, on Saturday, April 28, 2007. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation.
