Matilda Raddatz

Raddatz, Matilda Louise MIDDLETON - Matilda Louise "Tillie" Raddatz, age 97, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Harbor House of Middleton. She was born on Aug. 17, 1909, in Algoma, Wis. She was the daughter of William and Bertha (Mathis) Schroeder. Tillie was united in marriage to Robert Thompson in 1927, in Racine. Robert died in 1936. She was married to Walter Raddatz on Aug. 30, 1946, in Racine. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1972. Tillie was a wonderful woman and a great mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Her grandchildren were very fortunate. They remember all the fun times at Grandmas house, especially climbing the apple tree in the backyard. A cook of epic proportions, her banana bread would bring tears of joy. If all families had a wonderful and loving grandmother like Tillie, the world would be a better and kinder place. Tillie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and of the Marian Circle. In Racine, she was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Tillie is survived by her grandson, Kirby (Barbara) Nelson; two granddaughters, Gail Nelson and Janet (Heath) Quamme, all of Middleton; four great-grandchildren, Ian Nelson, Sadie Nelson, Lydia Meier and Chase Quamme; a son-in-law, C. Richard Nelson of Middleton; and her special niece and nephew, Jackie Williamson of Racine and Wayne Hansen of Madison. In addition to her husbands, Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Roberta Nelson; and a sister, Emily Braemer. Funeral services will be held at the GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Racine. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Harbor House and HospiceCare for the loving care they provided Tillie.
