Joan Pieper

Pieper, Joan T. MIDDLETON - Joan T. Pieper, age 80, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on Jan. 16, 1927, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Raymond and Ella Schaenzer. Joan earned her nursing degree from the St. Marys Hospital School of Nursing of Milwaukee and was employed with University Hospital until her retirement. She married Vernon Pieper on March 10, 1951, in Hortonville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2001. Joan was a member of West Middleton Lutheran Church. She had a variety of interests including bridge, swim exercise, the Red Hat Society and loved caring for and spending time with her family at their White Lake cottage. Joan is survived by her daughters, Paula Darr of Middleton, Pamela (Ronald) Brys of Middleton and Pauline (Tylor) Allison of Stillwater, Minn.; her six grandchildren, Kristin (John) Hessenthaler, Lauren and Dan Waller, Lucas and Jessica Brys and Jasmine Allison; her great-grandson, Nolan Hessenthaler; her sister, Jeno Warner of Blairsville, Ga.; and her brothers, Jean (JoAnn) Schaenzer of Hortonville and Ron (Janice) Poole of Hortonville. She is further survived by special family members, Terry and Betsy Waller, Vicki Homburg and Sally Zogg. In addition to her husband, Vern, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marilyn Schulz. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at WEST MIDDLETON LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3763 Pioneer Road (corner of Mineral Point Road and Pioneer Road). Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Floral Hill Cemetery in New London, Wis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tomorrow River Scholarship Foundation, West Middleton Lutheran Church, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. Joan was a kind and loving person who was foremost a beloved wife and mother.
