Obituary
Marshall, Dorothy Robbins MADISON - Dorothy Robbins Marshall, our beloved mother, neighbor and friend, and lifelong Madison resident passed quietly Monday morning, March 12, 2007, with her family at her side. Born in 1919, Dorothy spent her life in Madison and Monona. She and Dr. W. Robert Marshall Jr. were married 45 years and raised three children, Peggy, Mary and Bill. Bob Marshall was the dean of engineering at Madisons UW campus. He also founded the University Industry Research building before his death in 1988. As an adolescent, Dorothy was a superb swimmer, diver and swam across Lake Mendota. She enjoyed theater, the arts, traveling and movies with friends. Her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed cruise vacations with her friends and travel to various locations. Many will remember Dorothy as an avid bridge player and a member of the Black Hawk Country Club, where she often won the weekly prize. She was an active member in PEO for many years. Dorothy was born to Dr. Hiram Robbins and Eva Bannister. Eva passed away at 103; Dorothys sister, Jane, died in 2005; surviving is brother, George Robbins of Madison. Dear friends Judy and Bill Dicke will forever be remembered for befriending and helping Dorothy the last 25 years. Peggy (Rafael) Rangel reside in Monterrey, Mexico. Dorothys grandchildren, Rafa and Cristi, also live in Mexico with their spouses and four great-grandchildren. Mary (Dan) Hensel lives in Neenah; the grandchildren, Kim in Milwaukee and Nicole (Francesco) Johnson-Catania in Sansepolco, Italy, with the great-grandsons, Carmelo and Matteo. Bill (Patti) have lived in the Houston, Texas area for 28 years with Dorothys grandsons Robb and Ren. Her loving family will always remember their mother and their "Gramm" for generosity, kindness, strength and her faith in God. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 5 p.m., at OAKWOOD VILLAGE-WEST RESURRECTION CHAPEL, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison. She will be missed by all. A special thanks and sincere appreciation to all the care providers at Covenant Oaks Woodland Way and Hospice staff.
