Obituary

Dixon, Catherine F. PARDEEVILLE - Catherine F. Dixon, age 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 27, 2007. She was born on June 30, 1915, in Madison, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Statz) Hackett. Catherine lived a full and happy life. Number 12 of 12 children, she spoke often of her brothers and sisters, and the home in which she grew up. Catherine lived a Christian life and was united in marriage to Darol Dixon on Nov. 21, 1940. She worked many years for the state of Wisconsin, in the DOT Division. A mother of four, Catherine spent much of her time raising her children. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. After receiving her drivers license at age 60, Catherine could be found almost always spending time with her grandchildren. She was full of life and was always whistling or humming songs. She was a big card player and especially loved "rummy." She embarked on her first motorcycle ride at age 71, and also went on a hot air balloon ride in her 80s. Catherine spent a great deal of her time up north in a cabin her children built for her. Many of our fondest memories will be found by the shores of Curtis Lake. "Grandma, youve been the foundation of this family; the rock for which we all climbed upon. Your joyful smile and beautiful spirit will be sorely missed by us all." Catherine is survived by her four children, Susan Kellman of Walworth, Don (Karen) Dixon of Windsor, Jean (Tom) Bohnsack of Pardeeville, and Beth Walls of Madison; eight grandchildren, Joe (Deanne) Wornson of Poynette, Melissa Kellman of Walworth, Shawna (Jim) Gleason of Watertown, Levi Walls of Madison, Daryl (Jaime) Dixon of Rio, Erica Dixon of Dodgeville, James Bohnsack and Sarah (Steve) Fay, all from Pardeeville; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darol; her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren, Ed Wornson and Deborah Ray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., at 11 a.m., with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank all those at the Columbia County Nursing Home for looking over her when the family could not be there, and for keeping her comfortable the last few days of her life. "Me and my shadow, the song you sang to us as kids, will soothe our shaken spirits in the many days to come. Thanks grandma, for the memories. We love you."
