George Gross

Gross, George P. MONONA - George P. Gross, age 94, passed away after a short illness on Friday, March 23, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was born on Dec. 19, 1912, in Madison, the son of Edward and Mary (Bouzek) Gross. George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the bronze star for his military service. George was united in marriage to Margaret Voges on Jan. 11, 1948. They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. He retired from MGand E after 33 years of service. After retirement, he was always busy working on projects. George loved being outdoors, working in the garden, and woodworking. He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 8483, and their neighborhood card club. George is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his children, Geraldine (Bruce) Scoville, Pat (Paul) Krueger, George Gross Jr. (special friend, Helga Mulcahy), and Marcia (special friend, John Lamberty); 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Winch; his parents; a brother; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at MONONA EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4411 Monona Dr., at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, with the Rev. William Pekari presiding. Burial will be in Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
