Earle Ehrhart

Ehrhart, Earle V. MADISON - Our big hearted Irish man, Earle V. Ehrhart, age 62, left this earth on Saturday, March 24, 2007, due to complication from an aneurysm. He was born on Sept. 16, 1944, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Earle and Luella (Hurley) Ehrhart. Earle graduated from Wittenburg University and went on to do graduate work in theology. He moved to Madison in 1976, working for Giddings and Lewis Foundry. Earle was united in marriage to Jane Curtis on June 23, 1985. He owned and operated the historic Union House Tavern for 22 years, where he counseled and provided meals for the homeless and lonely. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jane Curtis; his son, Chris (Cyndi) Ehrhart; his daughter, Gwen Curtis-Ehrhart; three grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas and Jordan and their mother, Anna; sister, June (Bob) Benson of Connecticut; an aunt, Lillian Hurley of Connecticut; and other extended family members and special friends. Earle was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Jennifer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Gwens college education or University Hospital Transplant Unit, since Earle was a 14 year liver transplant survivor.
