Obituary
Bronson, Everett Edward "Red" MONONA - Everett Edward "Red" Bronson, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on Feb. 18, 1923, in Boonville, N.Y., to Harry and Anna (Stephon) Bronson. Red served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and while stationed at Truax he met Dorothy "Dot" Horton. They were married on Sept. 15, 1945. Red was a manager at the Frito Lay vehicle garage for Madison and Beloit, retiring in 1987. He was a founding member and one of the first commanders of V.F.W. Post No. 7591, and a member of McFarland American Legion. Red would spend time with his grandchildren; speaking to classes about his military experiences; hunting, never missing a season in 60 years and traveling to Europe to visit his son. He had the ability to fix anything and was always willing to help anyone. His sense of humor, story telling ability and singing to his grandchildren will always be remembered. Red is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Monona; six children, Sharon Bronson of Monona, Jackie (Rod) Spors of Appleton, Jean (Jim) Kossow of Madison, Jeff Bronson of Germany, Jim (Diane) Bronson of Elkhorn and Kim (Roy) Boyd of Monona; eight grandchildren, Daryl (Briana) Spors, Derek (Erin) Spors, Barry Spors, Meghan and Alice Kossow and Brandon, Bridget and Olivia Boyd; three great-granddaughters; sisters, Dorothy Delaronde and Delores Nichols, both of Cape Cod, Mass. and Faye Ferris of Boonville, N.Y.; a brother, Millard (Maxine) Bronson of Raleigh, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Jane Goecks of McFarland and Beverly Pharo of Madison; brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary) Horton of McFarland, Troy (Frances) Dickert of South Carolina and Dale (Pat) Storck of Stoughton; and a loyal dog, Sox. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Ames; and a brother, Harold Bronson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007. Burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Madison Veterans Firing Squad. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., with a pass in review at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post No. 7591.
