Obituary
Dougall, Robert Alan STOUGHTON - Robert Alan Dougall, age 77, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. He was born on March 29, 1929, in Hinsdale, Ill., the son of Henrietta and George Dougall. Robert graduated from Lyons Township High School, La Grange, Ill., in June 1947 and received an associates degree in business management from Citrus Junior College, Azusa, Calif., in June 1949. He served from 1950 until 1952 in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert met his future bride at a USO dance at Fort McCoy. He married Kathryn McMahon on Nov. 29, 1952, in La Crosse. For 47 years, Robert held Kathryn in his heart and felt a great emptiness when she died on June 11, 1999. He held many jobs over the years. Robert worked in the time study department for Oscar Mayer, he also worked as a traveling auditor for Frito Lay (formerly Red Dot) and Gateway Transportation Company. Robert was a devout member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Madison. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. Robert loved the freedom of the open road and the smell of a new car. He liked to travel and enjoyed a great fondness for automobiles. Robert could recite every car he ever owned and how much he had paid for it. He was a member of the Studebaker and Kaiser Frazer Clubs and purchased his first car, a 1950 Studebaker Champion in 1951. Robert is survived by six children, Patricia (Larry) Marotz of Fitchburg, Jane (Paul) Roberts of DeForest, Jeff (Teresa) Dougall of Maryland, Jon and Steve Dougall of Stoughton, and Paul Dougall of Cottage Grove; we must not forget his two dogs, Patch and Tucker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; his parents; a son, David; and a brother, James. Funeral services will be held at BETHANY EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 301 Riverside Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2007, with the Rev. David E. Carlson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove.
