Beyer, Alice E. STOUGHTON/ MCFARLAND - Alice Beyer, age 91, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007. She was born to Henrietta and Walter Rasmussen, on June 19, 1915, in Oregon, Wis. Alice married Donald A. Beyer on April 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, Wis. They were happily married for 71 years. Survivors include a son, Mark Beyer of Plover; daughter, Kay Wicks of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Pearl Hockett of Onalaska; brother, Howard Rasmussen of Portage; grandchildren, Jason, Jenny, Kristi and Erik; and two great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Paul. Her brother, Oscar Rasmussen; and sister, Edna Friede, preceded her in death. Alice began giving many years of countless volunteer hours while her husband, Donald was serving our country in World War II, through her work for the American Red Cross. During her life, she continued serving her church, Bethel Lutheran, as well as Parent Teachers Associations, American Field Service and many convalescent centers. Alice and Donald were longtime charter members of the McFarland Lions Club. She held various offices over the 24 years. Alice was proud of her Danish family heritage. One of her life highlights included participating in a 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration for her parents in Denmark in 1957. Alice will be remembered for her wonderful spirit and generosity. Many neighborhood friends have fond memories of her annual Christmas Cookie exchange. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
