Harold Johnson

Johnson, Harold S. MADISON - Harold S. Johnson, age 84, died on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007. He was born on May 22, 1922, in Madison, to Henry and Ann (Midthun) Johnson. Harold graduated from Madison East High School in 1940 and received a bachelors degree from UW-Madison. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Harold married Janet Honer on Dec. 28, 1963, in Muscoda. He worked for Commercial Credit Corporation as a district manager, retiring after 35 years. Harold lived in Florida for many years, before returning to Madison. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Davenport, Iowa. Harold loved traveling, reading about history and bicycling. He enjoyed his dog companions over the years, and all of them were named Oscar, except for his current dog, Simba. Harold is survived by his wife, Janet of Sun Prairie; a sister, Darlene Good of Stoughton; a brother, Noel (Barb) Johnson of Cottage Grove; brother-in-law, David (JoAnn) Honer of Richland Center; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Gerald Good. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. TODAY, Monday, Feb. 12, 2007. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the Madison Veterans Firing Squad.
