Violet Roisum

Roisum, Violet M. MADISON - Violet M. Roisum, age 82, died on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. She was born on Feb. 12, 1924, the fourth daughter of Ally and Lousie Geiger. She lived all her life in the Madison/ Monona area. On Sept. 24, 1949, Violet was married to Anders E. Roisum and they celebrated 57 happy years together. She and Andy enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad. One of the highlights of her activities was the rosemaling class she attended for about 8-9 years. She also volunteered and served nine years for the American Cancer Society in Madison and surrounding areas. Violet worked for 42 years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University Extension Division, the Headquarters Library of the 13 two year campuses and then the Center system Administrative office of the two-year campuses. She took early retirement in July 1986.Violet is survived by her beloved husband and friend, Andy; a sister, Margaret Gonzales of Monona; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Marian Klitzman and Leola (Edwin) Burling. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Burial will be at Norway Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
