Owen, Leora D. BROOKLYN - Leora D. Owen, age 91, of Brooklyn, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Oregon Manor, after a brief stay. She was born on June 27, 1915, in Highland, to Frank and Hilda Harms. Leora graduated from Muscoda High School in 1934. She married Robert Owen. Leora worked at the Washington Hotel in Madison for more than 50 years. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Leora was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and baking for her husband, five sons and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed visiting and playing cards with her family and friends. Leora is survived by three sons, Phill (Cherle) of Brooklyn, Marshall of Brooklyn and Stephen (Sandy) of Issaquah, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Tracy (Dan) Riese of Monroe, Todd (Stephanie) Owen of Lodi, Robert Owen of Brooklyn, Neil Owen of Poynette, Eugene (Sandy) Owen of Greenville, S.C., Tina Owen of Lake Wisconsin, and Brenda Owen of Fort Atkinson; numerous great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frieda Wilkinson, Irma Rut, Olive Hippenbacher and Shirley (Hank) Wardell, all of Muscoda; a brother, Danny Harms of Blue River; many nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Gordon (Doris) Owen and John (Bunny) Owen. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, infant son, Douglas, Thomas and Eugene; a grandson, Scott Owen; and a brother, Martin Harms. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.
