Obituary

Legler, Harland Abraham SUN PRAIRIE - Harland Abraham Legler, age 87, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Oak Park Place in Madison, after a long illness. He was born on March, 2, 1919, in Belleville, the son of Herman and Theresa (Schmid) Legler. Harland farmed all of his boyhood days. On April 12, 1939, Harland married a farm girl, Irene Schwenn. The two farmed for many years and in 1948, Harland started a trucking and bus business in Marshall. In 1952, they moved back to run the family farm in Cottage Grove, where he began a bus business for Deerfield schools. Dancing was Harlands love and he especially loved the polka. He enjoyed euchre, deer hunting and we fondly remember his Swiss yodeling. Harland was known and loved for his great sense of humor, which he retained up until the end. All of his care takers marveled at what a wonderful, positive attitude he always had in spite of the pain he was suffering. Harland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Irene; five daughters, Donna (Ed) Hysell of Windsor, Marion (Dean) Haske of Tomah, Lois (Tom) Mosso, Linda (Phil) Peterson and Priscilla Kimbro; two sons, Steven (Cathy) and Dennis (Christie), all of Sun Prairie; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; a sister, Lois; a son, Herbert; and a son-in-law, Richard Kimbro. Funeral services will held at BRYN MAWR PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 229 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Larry Collins presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Harland was a longtime member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and requested that memorials be made to the church. The family wishes to extend their thanks for the wonderful, loving care Harland received at St. Marys Care Center for two years and to the Oak Park Place for the last six months. Harland will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren. Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Centers 5203 Monona Drive (608) 221-5420 www.gundersonfh.com
