Myrold, John R. MADISON - John R. Myrold, age 84, passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007. He was born on Oct. 14, 1922, in Stoughton, the son of John and Anna (Hanson) Myrold. John graduated from Stoughton High School in 1940. He enlisted in the military on Jan. 9, 1943 and was honorably discharged on Jan. 13, 1946. John served in the Philippine Islands with company B, 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantrymans Badge and the Bronze Star Medal. John was united in marriage to Joyce Harbort on March 29, 1947. He worked for Baker Manufacturing in Evansville, Victrylite Candle Company in Oshkosh, and retired as a controller from National Electrostatics Corporation in Middleton. John was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Madison. He loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing, and working around his house. John is survived by his children, Rollie (Denise) of Upland, Calif., Lonny (Ken) Grieve of Sun Prairie, Joel (Jody) of Madison, and Larry (Ann) of Brookfield; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam) Vega, Eric (Kari) Myrold, Alan (Kim) Myrold, Nicholas Myrold, Christopher Myrold, Sam Myrold, Bryan Myrold, Luke Myrold and Joe Myrold; a great-grandson, Thomas Vega; two sisters, Eleanore Nygaard of Stoughton and Solveig Sorenson of Monona; brother-in-law, John (Dorothy) Harbort of Waunakee; sister-in-law, Ruth (Chuck) Navratil of Madison; and a special friend, Dolores Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 1990; a son, Hugh in 1985; his parents; and a brother, Harold. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, with the Rev. Ken Smith presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007. I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. I know what a really hard time this is for you and your family. I lost my brother in October and my grandmother in December 2006.

I knew John from NEC for many years. He was great to work with. We had a real nice going away party when John retired and the company gave John a nice camera. I hope he took a lot of pictures. He'll be missed!
