Thomas Kurt

Kurt, Thomas John STOUGHTON - Thomas John Kurt, age 58, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at home, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on April 16, 1948, in Madison, to Edwin and Eileen (Powers) Kurt. Thomas graduated from La Follette High School, and then joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Honolulu, Hawaii. While serving in the military, he attended college in Hawaii and graduated from UW-Madison with a mechanical engineering degree. Thomas owned and operated Triple K Construction and later worked at Stevens Construction. He also built homes with his son, Thomas. Thomas was an avid bowler, enjoyed traveling with his family and hunting with his sons. When his sons were younger, he coached their baseball and football teams. Thomas loved spending time with his grandchildren, they were the greatest joys of his life. Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary of Stoughton; five children, Tamara (Tim) Kauppinen of Marshall, Thomas (Tina) Kurt of Stoughton, Tonya (Brian) Buskager of Edgerton, Jeff Kurt and Jason Kurt, both of Stoughton; nine grandchildren, Kelsie, Kambria, Kiala, Kadon and Keion Kauppinen, Caitlyn and Colton Kurt, and Breeana and Bailey Buskager; brothers, Joseph (Paulie) Kurt and Bill Kurt, both of Sun Prairie, Kenny Kurt of Madison, and Jimmy Kurt of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Louise Kurt of Sun Prairie. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006.
