Detert, Bette R. Gardner MADISON - Bette R. Gardner Detert, age 70, of Madison, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, surrounded by her family, at her daughters home. She was born on July 14, 1935, in Portage, to Beatrice (Laing) Gardner and Gerald "Ole" Gardner. Bette graduated from Montello High School in 1954. She married Dale A. Detert on Sept. 26, 1964, in Montello. Bette worked at CUNA and Affiliates for many years, where she made many life long friends. She was active in Special Olympics with her daughter, Dana, and was an avid "Red Hatter" in recent years. She enjoyed the companionship of her black poodles. Bettes grandchildren, Allie, Cassie and Stephie, were her pride and joy, and brought her great pleasure. Bette is survived by her husband, Dale; two daughters, Dana Detert of Madison and Diana (Don) Trask of Madison; three granddaughters, Allison, Cassandra and Stephanie Trask; a sister, Mary (Wayne) Kramp of Montello; a brother, Gary (Deb) Gardner of Westfield; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Dan) OConnell of Montello; a brother-in-law, Dan Detert of Janesville; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Beatrice Gardner; a brother, John Gardner; and brother-in-law, Alan Keith. Funeral services will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, with the Rev. Susanne Burwell presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Bette was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family and friends, giving of herself to others.
