Ryan, Yvonne J. "Vonnie" MADISON - Yvonne J. "Vonnie" Ryan died peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Vonnie was born in Madison, on May 28, 1930. She graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1948, then attended Wartburg College in Iowa. Vonnie was married on Nov. 22, 1952, to L. Rex Ryan. He preceded her in death. Vonnie worked for American Family Insurance most of her adult life and enjoyed good conversation, her books, bowling and shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Viola Voss; and a sister, Judy. Vonnie is survived by four children, Bill (Kim), Judie, Janice and Mary Jo; four wonderful grandchildren, Amanda, Allison, Abby and Travis; brother-in-law, Dean Hewitt; nephews, Tim and Ted; a niece, Terri; and several (thousand) dear friends and extended family. Vonnie knew the words to every Big Ten fight song and was a hearty Badgers, Packers and Tiger Woods fan. She was the biggest fan of those she loved and those with whom she laughed. Vonnie worked a room with a warm smile and conversation, as she genuinely cared about and took interest in others. Many thanks to Dr. Ellen Flannery and the staffs at Wildwood Clinic and St. Marys, for their excellent care and bedside manners, and to all who gave Vonnie comfort and enriched her life throughout her years.
