Smith, Margaret "Marge" Tarkenton OREGON - Margaret "Marge" Tarkenton Smith, age 60, passed away suddenly on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, due to an automobile accident. She was born on Aug. 15, 1946, in Madison, the daughter of Unabelle (Holtan) and Julian Tarkenton. Marge graduated from Oregon High School in 1964. She moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1967, where she was employed by Dr. Pepper and later at Corpus Christi Yacht Club, as the office manager. In 1998, Marge returned to Wisconsin and was currently employed at Southern Wisconsin Roofing Company. She is survived by a brother, Robert Tarkenton (Barbara Wegner) of Evansville; a sister-in-law, Sharon Tarkenton of Oregon; an aunt, Alice Hennessey of Baraboo; many nieces and nephews, Bob (Sandy), Howard, Stan, Janelle, Guy (Dianna), Brad, Brian, Bruce, Brett (Amy) and Barry (Kristi) Tarkenton, Keith (Maria) Gander, Debbie (Mitch) Wade, and Laura (Don) Huebner; special friend, Don Newman; and many other beloved cousins and dear friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathryn Irvin; a brother, Warren Tarkenton; and great-nephew, Dustin. A memorial service will be held at PEOPLES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 Alpine Parkway (corner of Highway CC at Alpine Parkway), Oregon, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2006, with the Rev. Howard Hintzman presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
