Steven Grass

Grass, Steven P. MADISON/CROSS PLAINS - Steven P. Grass, age 53, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home in Cross Plains, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006. He was born on Aug. 11, 1953, to Lorn and Berdella Grass in Kenosha. He married Deena Grass (Hoover) in 1995 at Indian Lake State Park. He is best known for his love of the outdoors, particularly native Wisconsin flora and fauna. He has worked as a forester and a farmer and he currently enjoyed his work and his coworkers, as a senior program analyst at the University of Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Deena; his daughter, Heidi Grass of Hawaii; his step-sons, Brian Webb of Madison and David Webb of St. Paul, Minn.; his mother, Berdella Grass of Minneapolis, Minn.; his siblings, John Grass of La Crosse, Carma (Gene) Aubry of California, and Kristin Grass of Minneapolis, Minn.; his mother and father-in-law, Parke and Jane Hoover of Indiana; and a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Cris Elstro of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Lorn Grass. A celebration of his life will be held at OLBRICH GARDENS on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that one plant a tree in his memory or make a donation to the Wisconsin State Parks Department, to celebrate his life and love of nature.
