Ellen Kilen

Kilen, Ellen C. CAMBRIDGE/ MADISON - Ellen C. Kilen, age 87, passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. She was born on May 15, 1919, in Morrisonville, to Harry and Esther (Ylvasaker) Halverson. Ellen graduated from DeForest High School. She married Eilert Kilen on May 28, 1938. Ellen was a member of Burke Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Post No. 7591 Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Pat) Joyce of Cambridge; a son, Steve of Beloit; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Hagland of Sun Prairie and Nola (Ron) Nordeng of Portage; a brother, Harold (Penny) of Token Creek; and a sister-in-law, Kristi Leffingwell. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Eilert, in 1997; a daughter, Katherine Sorenson, in 2001; sisters, Betty Simonson and Joan (Bud) Grinde; sisters-in-law, Clara (Paul) Wadsworth, Thea (Pete) Doetz and Esther Synwolt; and brothers-in-law, Solfest (Ella) Kilen, Clarence Johnson, Butch Hagland and Charles Leffingwell. Funeral services will be held at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5720 Portage Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, with the Rev. Russ Leeper presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Burke Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Burke Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc.
