Donna Schmelzer

Schmelzer, Donna MADISON - Donna Schmelzer, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006. She was born on Nov. 7, 1934, in Stoughton, to Clarence and Lenitha (Pschorr) Stuelke. Donna married Richard Schmelzer on Dec. 26, 1952. She worked in banking for numerous years. Donna enjoyed her special bird, Mort, camping, sewing, canning, gardening, and was the best cookie maker. She is survived by her children, Karen Frey (Dean Scoville) of Belleville, Rick Schmelzer of Avon, Colo., and Dave Schmelzer of Madison; grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Jeff, Robert, Brianne, and Kristi; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Romona (Carl) Block. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schmelzer; her parents; and grandchildren, Andrew Scoville and Kayla Frey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006. A special thanks to the staff at St. Marys Hospital Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit, for going above and beyond the call of duty in the care of Donna. They were very caring and compassionate.
