Obituary

Tschanz, Werner R. MADISON - Werner R. Tschanz, age 79, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at the Johnson Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on May 4, 1927, in Brigham township, Blue Mounds, a son of Walter and Magdalene Tschanz. Werner served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956, during the Korean War. He worked in the copper mines in Arizona from 1959 until 1966. Werner was a construction machine operator and mechanic from 1967 until 1981. In 1982, he went to work for the state of Wisconsin as a janitor, retiring in 1990. Werner also worked for Opitz Management as a janitor. He married Margaret Hanson Duell on June 21, 1974. Werner is survived by three stepsons, Harold "Bud" Duell, Richard L. Duell and Larry Blazek; a stepdaughter, Cindy Brown; step-grandchildren, Ron (Joan) Gundlach, Randy (Carol) Gundlach, Cheryl Pittman, Karen, Monica and Angie; two sisters, Heidi Tollakson and Trudy (Ron) Hermsmier; a brother, Herman; a step-son-in-law, Howard Gundlach; other step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jean Kurlinkus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Tschanz; a stepson, Dennis Blazek; a stepdaughter, Mary Lou Gundlach; and brother, Walter. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, with the Rev. Blake Rohrer presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.
