Obituary
Alberts, Glenn G. STOUGHTON - Glenn G. Alberts, age 88, was reunited with his beloved wife, Poopsie, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at the Peter and Ellen Johnson HospiceCare Center. He was born on May 31, 1918, in Mayville, to George and Grace (Greiner) Alberts. Glenn graduated from Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. He was an aircraft mechanic for the Flying Tigers, in the 14th Air Corps during World War II, serving in the China, Burma and India Theater. Glenn married Ruth Wolfe on May 3, 1945. He worked at University Hospital in the Pathology Department for 17 years, and was a compassionate and respected funeral director, where he partnered with Paul Zeidler at Zeidler Alberts Funeral Home and worked for Pflanz Funeral Home, working in Columbus and Portage for many years. Glenn was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church and St. Peters Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post No. 8483, a former member of the Columbus Knights of Columbus, Columbus, American Legion and Madison Moose Lodge. Glenn was an avid hunter, fisherman, cribbage player and couldnt go five minutes without telling a funny story. He was a great organ player, singer and griller. Glenn is survived by five children, Greg Alberts of Antioch, Ill., Coletta (David) Weimar of Stoughton, Gary (Julie) Alberts of Portage, Amy (Tom) Bodden of Windsor and Ann (John) Hicks of Stoughton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth "Poopsie;" his parents; and two sisters, Blandina Glassel and Mary Ann Alberts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANNS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, with Monsignor Gerard Healy presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 51 North at Jackson Street, Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a pass in review at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006.
