Peter Stangel

Stangel, Peter G. MARSHALL - Peter G. Stangel, age 43, of Marshall, passed away at his home on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, surrounded by his family, after battling cancer. He was born on Sept. 11, 1963, in Florence, Ala., the son of Paul and June (Rethke) Stangel. Peter graduated from Georgia Tech in 1987, as a mechanical engineer. After graduation, he worked at Marquip International and Rayovac. He currently worked at Clack Corporation, in Windsor and was a volunteer fire fighter for the Marshall Fire Department. Peter was involved with his childrens sporting events and enjoyed coaching the girls softball team. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Peter is survived by his children, Jessica Socha, Natasha (Terry) Rettschlag, Erik Socha (Katrina Steinfeldt), Sarah (Marcos) Dominguez and Michelle Stangel and their mother, Julie Stangel; a proud papa to his five grandchildren, Sarah Rettschlag, Gabriel Rettschlag, Jordan Socha, Kayden Socha and Gage Rettschlag; his parents, Paul and June Stangel; siblings, Darcy (Jim) Zik of Mount Airy, Md., Denise (Paul) Christy of Omaha, Neb., Rhea (Phillip) Stangel-Maier of Oregon, Mirium (Kelly) Smith of Seattle, Wash., Chris Stangel of New York and Andrew Stangel of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Helen Rethke and Julius and Clara Stengel. Funeral services will be held at HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 605 Madison St., Marshall, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, with the Rev. Paul G. Anderson presiding. Burial will be in Medina Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006.
