Richard Disterhoft

Disterhoft, Richard G. PUNTA GORDA, FLA./ MADISON - Richard G. Disterhoft, age 70, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at home with his wife, Nancy, by his side. He was born on Sept. 30, 1936, in Emmitsburg, Iowa, to L.C. and Evalyn (Thompson) Disterhoft. Richard married Nancy McCormick on July 25, 1959, in Madison. He served in the U.S. Army and after his marriage, went to Fort Sill, Okla., and then came back to Madison to start his own business. Richard owned and operated Poor Richards Service Station for more than 40 years. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his wife and dogs, Heather and Calli. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy; two dogs, Heather and Calli; a sister, Shirley Culp; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Endres; and two brothers-in-law, David Endres and Phil Culp. Funeral services will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Burial will be at St. Andrew Mausoleum, Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to American Cancer Society, Humane Society or HospiceCare Inc. Nancy would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kostelyna and nurse, Irene, at Dean Fish Hatchery, and also thanks for the special care of both Dick and Nancy, to Dr. Luin, Dr. Kiri, Dr. Nutter and other doctors and nurses in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.
