Barbara Oreel

Oreel, Barbara Diane MADISON - Barbara Diane Oreel, beloved mother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, in Sedona, Ariz. She was born Barbara Diane Kearney, April 9, 1942, in Melrose Park, Ill. After graduating from Proviso High School, in 1960, she attended and graduated from Elmhurst College. In 1966, she married Fred Oreel and then moved to Madison, in 1969. In 1971, she moved to Reedsburg for eight years before returning to Madison. There she pursued an education in social services at Madison Area Technical College and worked at the District Attorneys office in the First Offender program, where she met her good friend, Linda Szczepkowski. She enjoyed reading, movies and most of all being with her family and friends. We will truly miss her and remember her for her generous love and support. Surviving are her daughter, Caroline Oreel and husband Steven Wanish of Sedona, Ariz.; daughter, Shannon Oreel and husband, Anthony Dispanet of Madison; three grandchildren, Amos Nicholas, Marijke B. and Thelonious Charles, all of Madison; sisters, Judy (Ronald) Kabat, Jane (Wayne) Mittlestaedt, Joan Davidson and Betty (Norman) Starzec; nephews, Arthur Kearney, Timothy Davidson, Michael Mittlestaedt and Ronald Mittlestaedt; and nieces, Minerva Anderson, Trudy Kearney, Debra Mathews, Rebecca Davidson, Jill Dykier and Susan Mintrup. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bess Kearney; brothers, Patrick Kearney, John Kearney and James Kearney; and nephew, Sydney Kearney. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive.
