Obituary

Falkner, Creighton MADISON - Creighton Falkner, age 83, of Monona, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at the Middleton VA Hospital in Madison. He was born at home on Dec. 10, 1922, in Madison, the son of Elvin and Maude Falkner. Creighton attended Marquette Elementary School and graduated from Madison East High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. Creighton was in the 315 Tank Destroyer in New Guinea. He later transferred to the 32nd Division in the Philippines and Taiwan. Creighton married Virginia Shower on June 20, 1947. He worked in the printing department of Ray-O-Vac for 13 years. Creighton then worked for College Printing, College Printing and Typing, American Printing and Econo Print Company for 32 years until retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golf, square dancing, and singing in various church community choirs. Creighton was an active member of Pilgrim Congregational Church until its closure in 1969. Virginia and he were volunteers at the Methodist Health Care Center for more than 15 years. Creighton was a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge No. 5, a charter member of Madison Area Craftman Club and had a life membership in the V.F.W. He was active at Bashford United Methodist Church until his passing. Creighton is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey (Diane) of Madison, and Randy (Dorothy) of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Janet (Mark) Sylvester of Cross Plains, and Mindy (Scott) Billings of Janesville; and four grandchildren, Dan Sylvester, Kimberly (fiance, Christopher Adams) Falkner, Virginia "Ginny" Falkner and Texas (Elizabeth) Falkner. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, George; his wife, Virginia in 1996; and sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Martin Pratt. A Memorial service will be held at BASHFORD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 329 North St., Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, with the Rev. Fran Deaner presiding. Private burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006. A luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bashford United Methodist Church building fund.
