Nelda Roemer

Roemer, Nelda R. MADISON - Nelda R. Roemer, age 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at the Johnson Anderson HospiceCare Center. She was born on April 15, 1931, in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Bevely and Mavis (Jacks) Dossey. Nelda moved to Wisconsin at age 11. In 1960, she joined the Dane County Sheriffs Department, retiring in 1984 as a sergeant. Nelda was a member of Soroptimist International of Madison and a supporter of Arc House. She enjoyed traveling with friends and occasional trips to the casino where she was an incredibly lucky gambler. Most of all, Nelda loved spending time with family. She is survived by her children, Richard (Susan) Roemer of Madison, Nancy (Kevin) Judd of Marshall, Mark Roemer of DeBary, Fla., and Kathleen Roemer of Sanford, Fla.; former husband, Richard Roemer of South Daytona, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Roemer-Smith of Lake Helen, Fla.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Roemer; and brother, Claude Dossey. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006. Inurnment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. Nelda was an extremely caring and giving person, with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
