Roald Forseth

Forseth, Roald B. MONONA - Roald Borge Forseth, age 86, of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, Oct.18, 2006, at St. Marys Care Center. He was born on Nov. 15, 1919, in LaCrosse, the son of Eivind and Dagmar (Waadeland) Forseth. Roald married Patricia Mary Eagan on April 17, 1948, in LaCrosse. He was a father, son, and friend to many; and husband, lumberjack, scholar, inventor, sales engineer, businessman, decorated veteran of World War II, and a 1947 graduate of the UW-Madison. Roald kept his children and family amused with a steady stream of gizmos and inventions. His sons will remember him as a source of sharp wisdom, concise and appropriately terse advice. His daughters will remember him as a loving, doting, and adoring father. His wife will remember him as the man who loved her and stood by her through the trials, tribulations, and celebrations of life. Roald is survived by his wife, Patricia of Monona; two sons, Kevin (Teresa Hoveland) of Milwaukee and Mark of Madison; two daughters, Shawn Forseth (A.G. Lipede) of St. Louis, Mo., and Patricia (Richard) OHara of Boise, Idaho; and many loving and caring grandchildren, nieces, and nephews throughout the United States. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cecelia French, Solveig Hayek, Mona Ebert, Evelyn Warming, Dorothy Forseth, and Dagmar Synoground; and brothers, Valdemar, Eivind, Thormod, and Halfdan. A Memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roalds name may be made for a fund to be established at a later date. A Viking Prayer - Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my mother. Lo, there do I see my sisters and my brothers. I see the line of my people back to the beginning. They do call to me to take my place in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.
