Obituary
Barden, Augusta Marie MONONA/ MARSHALL - Augusta Marie Barden, age 84, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. She was born on Nov. 30, 1921, in Madison, to Lavinia (Mayhew) and Henry Ring. Augusta was raised in West Allis, and graduated from St. Aloysious Grade School and West Allis Central High School. She married David R. Barden on June 27, 1942. Augusta was a contented homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, and baking cookies for her grandchildren. Augusta was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Marshall. She is survived by her children, James (Gina) Barden, William (Kathy) Barden, Linda (Nels) Johnson, and Nancy (Hans) Slinde; grandchildren, Jamie (Todd) Gulseth, Sean Stemper, and Jon Slinde; step-grandchildren, Becky (Bob) Mattmann, Dawn Slinde, Kai (Youko) Johnson, Sunya (Ron) McDaniel, Meghan Johnson, and Nicholas Johnson; a step-great-grandchild, Aidan Mattmann; sister-in-law, Ruth Ring; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends, including Bertha Hallman and Rose Draeger. Augusta was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; a sister, Annabel; a brother, Jim Ring; and step-granddaughter, Terri Slinde. Memorial services will be held at HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 605 Madison St., Marshall, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, with the Rev. Paul Anderson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Cure Autism Now Foundation. The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Matzke for giving Mom hope, to Dr. Prendergast for giving her comfort, and especially Dr. Motl for all of his kindness over the years.
