Ralph Gugel

Gugel, Ralph MADISON - Ralph Gugel, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006. He was born on Aug. 31, 1924, in Madison, the son of William A. and Lillian (Esser) Gugel. Ralph graduated from Madison West High School. He served his country in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, Company G, 128th Infantry. On Jan. 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to Valerie Jean Morgan at St. James Catholic Church, Madison. Ralph was employed by A. J. Sweet for 47 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Moose Lodge No. 1451 and the Knights of Columbus. Ralph enjoyed playing cards, camping and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He is survived by his five children, Barbara Gugel, Tom (Kathy) Gugel, Richard (Karen) Gugel, Mary (Chris) Nielsen and Bill Gugel; 10 grandchildren, David (Cammi) Gericke, Susan (Paul) Post, Valerie (Steve) Zindars, Jeremy Gugel, Andrea Gugel, Jacob (Anita) Nielsen, Daniel "Boomer" Gugel, Christopher Nielsen, Lucas Gugel and Sarah Gugel; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryley Post, Cody Gericke, Tyler Zindars, Amanda Gericke, Abigail Zindars, Eva Nielsen and Dain Post. Ralph also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Hellenbrand; two brothers, Joe (Agatha) Gugel and George (Joan) Gugel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Valerie; his parents; a daughter, Nancy Gericke; a brother, Paul; two sisters, Ethel Hellenbrand and Mary Bambrough; and two brothers-in-law, Albert and Victor Hellenbrand. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
