Robert Schenck

Schenck, Robert "Red" MADISON - Robert "Red" Schenck, age 73, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006. He was born on July 5, 1933, in Sun Prairie, the son of Albert and Esther (Sievert) Schenck. After graduating from high school, Red served his country in the U.S. Army, 25th Infantry, in Korea. He was united in marriage to Gail Haugaard on Oct. 10, 1953, in Madison. Red worked for the city of Madison for 22 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 7591. Red was an avid auto racing fan and enjoyed watching his son race midget cars at Angell Park in Sun Prairie and other various locations around the country. He is survived by his son, Douglas of Cottage Grove; his daughter, Joanna Franks of DeForest; two grandchildren, Kari Franks and Joseph Welke; two great-grandchildren, Devon Franks and Kayli Evans; and a sister, Lorraine (John) Thompson of DeForest. Red was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marcella (Henry) Rostad. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, with the Rev. David Rostad presiding. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.
