Herbert Oechslin

Oechslin, Herbert William COTTAGE GROVE - Herbert William Oechslin, age 89, died on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at home. He was born on March 1, 1917, in Orangeville, Ill., the son of John and Mary (Porter) Oechslin. Herbert loved golfing, bowling, and playing pool. Although he was severely handicapped, he always had a smile on his face and loved telling jokes. Herbert had a great spirit and never let his disabilities interfere with his life. He is survived by his daughter, Nola (Dick) Ehle; granddaughters, Julie (Mark) Reinecke and Janelle (Scott) Karr; and five great-grandchildren, Alexa, Jack, Ben, Nikki, and Savannah. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Erma; and a son, Kent. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006.
