Mary K. Gieringer

HARMONY GROVE - Mary K. Gieringer, age 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Born June 28, 1930, Mary was the oldest and last surviving descendant of eight children born to the late Carrel and Martha (Thompson) Harmer.

Mary graduated from Olathe High School in 1948. In 1949, she married George Gieringer, with whom she shared a lifelong partnership grounded in love and faith.

Throughout her life, Mary found joy in many activities that enriched her spirit and brought happiness to those around her. She was an avid reader, a passionate golfer, a lively square dancer, and a skilled quilter. Her faith was a guiding light, and she was a devoted member of the Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church.

Mary dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as a pre-school teacher, touching the lives of many children with her kindness and patience. Her gentle spirit and dedication to education left a lasting impact on the community.

She is survived by her husband, George Gieringer; daughters, Marcia Huffman (Tom) and Sheila Gieringer-Broadway; daughter-in-law, Teresa Gieringer; grandson, Tom Huffman (Christine); granddaughters, Mary Murphy (Terrence) and Stephanie Broadway; and great-grandchildren, John Gariepy, Cassidy and Quincy Murphy and Alex and Samantha Huffman. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, John.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Mary’s life will be held at DEKORRA NORWEGIAN LUTHERAN CEMETERY, W10864 Corning Street, Poynette, at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, with the Rev. Robert Dennison presiding.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all who have offered support and comfort during this time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church.
