Obituary

MADISON - Barbara “Jeanie” Meier, age 92, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. She was born on September 28, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Lorena (McDermott) Armstrong.

Jeanie was united in marriage to Clifford Duane “Bucky” Meier on June 4, 1955, in Darlington, following his service during the Korean War.

Jeanie enjoyed collecting Belleek China, demi cups and saucers, snowmen, Lladro figurines, and obituaries honoring family and friends. She loved gardening, filling flower boxes with real geraniums, ceramics, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, and canning pickles.

She enjoyed life’s adventures, from casino gambling and betting on horse races in Dubuque, Iowa, to fishing, boating, snowmobiling, camping, picking Morel mushrooms, canoeing, biking, golfing, and cross-country skiing. She also cherished walks with friends and travelling.

Jeanie was a proud breast cancer survivor. She was a member of the East Side Businessmen’s Association and the Elks Club. She loved music, especially Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, polkas, “Wild Irish Rose,” and “Amazing Grace.”

Barbara had a special way with words and favorite sayings that reflected her warmth and outlook on life: “Thanks a million for stopping by,” “The door’s always open,” “Take care,” “As long as you’re having fun,” “We shall see,” and “Time will tell.” She often spoke of wanting to go back home to Shaffer Avenue, missing her family, missing Mark, and often reminisced the time spent with her nieces and nephews.

She adored her beloved dogs, Trixie, Fifi, Ginger, and Max, as well as her granddogs, Dusty, Shelby, Reagan, Porter, Wit and Wisco.

Barbara’s favorites included Toby’s restaurant, light pink roses, African violets, Christmas, summer, light pink roses, diamonds, hummingbirds, and visits to Biloxi, Mississippi.

Above all, family meant everything to Barbara. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Meier and Deborah (Greg) Faust; grandchildren, Kayla (Eugene) Lisitsa and Ryan (Carolyn) Faust; two great-granddaughters, Nora and Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bucky; son, Mark Meier; son-in-law, Paul Iverson; parents and siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at STELLA MARIS PARISH at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, with a luncheon to follow at the Eastside Club, 3735 Monona Drive, Madison.
