Obituary
MOUNT HOREB – Marjorie A. Sutter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. She was born in North Freedom, Wis., on January 14, 1934, to Francis and Catherine Crahen. Marjorie lived a pleasant life filled with family and friends.
On April 11, 1959, she married Joseph K. Sutter at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo. She lost him in March 2013 and missed him dearly since his passing. In addition to raising her family, she worked alongside Joseph doing the bookkeeping for the family business, Sutter Engine Repair in Mount Horeb. From this business, farm and heavy equipment were repaired. The majority of Marjorie’s life was spent in Mount Horeb.
She was a wonderful seamstress and made numerous wedding dresses, including her own, her daughters, and daughter-in-law. She taught sewing in the area and was a part of the Forever Friends group. She was always donating her time and her blood to the local community, spending a lot of time delivering food with Meals on Wheels. She prided herself on assisting with the Crahen and Schluter family reunions once a year. She loved all Wisconsin Sports Teams, especially the Badgers, being a season ticket holder for over 20 years.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Daniel Sutter (Deb passed away in 2022) of Mount Horeb, Susan Sutter of Verona, Scott (Yolanda) Sutter of Fitchburg and Kris Sutter-Parent (Dan) of Mount Horeb; grandchildren, Jenna Schmitt of Oregon, Sarah Gourlie (Brian) of Monona and their children Bryce and Cora, Bree Miller (Brad) of Edgerton and their child, Mylan, Tabbitha Parent of Prairie du Sac, Maci Parent of Mount Horeb, Angela Peacock (Cole) of Fitchburg, Shelby (Rich), and Sherry (Charles); brother, John (Margaret) Crahen; brother-in-law, Fran Haag; and sister-in-law, Sharon Crahen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; sisters, Mariam Crahen and Elaine Haag; and brother, Dennis Crahen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. IGNATIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 109 S. Sixth St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery in Mount Horeb.
