Obituary
Tam Pom, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 81, following a massive stroke. Born on September 4, 1945, in the serene city of Battambang, Cambodia, Tam's life was a remarkable journey filled with resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Tam was the beloved son of Mong and Sung Pom, who predeceased him; along with his wife, Neam Penn; Tum Pom; sister, Khorn Pom; and grandchild, Da’Vaughna Herron. His legacy continues through his devoted sister, Mum Pom. Tam's life was richly blessed with the love of his children: Savoeun Khoun (Sambath Khoun, Sophorn Khoun, Sophana Khoun, Selena Khoun, Sayda Khoun), Sophear Pom (Jerry Pom, Tom Pom, Lyna Pom, Mary Alrahwanah, Sandford Vongxay), Alieza Pom (Johnny Pom, Alexis Pom), Pheap Pom (Dontay Pom, Unique Khuy), Veasna Ragland (Silas Chhum, Starla Chhum, Titus Busch), and Linda Pom (Davianna Herron, Daz’Lin Herron, and Dae’Vaughn Herron). His legacy further extends to his 15 grandchildren and his 10 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
Tam's life was marked by his steadfast commitment to education and service. He pursued his studies in the Philippines, becoming a dedicated teacher. His courage was exemplified by his service as a soldier during the Khmer Rouge era, a testament to his strength and resilience. In his later years, Tam was actively involved with the Buddhist Cambodian Association in Madison, Wisconsin, and a musician association, where he shared his love for music and culture.
A man of many interests, Tam found solace in nature, with a particular fondness for fishing. He had an innate ability to see the beauty in the outdoors and was known for his compassionate heart, especially towards children who were less fortunate. Tam's quick thinking and resolute nature were admired by all who knew him, and he was a steadfast presence in the lives of those he loved.
Tam married the love of his life, Neam Penn, in Cambodia, and together they built a family rooted in love and strong values. His life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community.
A service to honor and celebrate Tam's life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Tam Pom will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
