Obituary
MADISON - Darlene Herrington, age 94, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026. She was born on October 3, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Bowers) King.
Darlene graduated from East High School in 1950. She married James Herrington. She worked at U.S. Bank for 30 years. She was politically active throughout her life.
Darlene enjoyed reading, particularly historical books about Madison, and biking throughout the City of Madison. She loved animals and advocated for them.
Darlene is survived by her children, Gregory Herrington and Elizabeth Ann Herrington; sister, Nancy (Danny) Lawrence; son-in-law, Raymond Burgett; and dear friends, Gerri Tholo, Kathy Esser, Lori Nieman, Bobbi Shore, Rick Dunn, Margo Tiedt and Beverly Hellenbrand Fenrick. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; daughter, Amy Herrington; brother, William King; and beloved animals, Trixie, Boo, Mitzy, Thumper and Tipper.
Memorials may be given in Darlene’s name to the Dane County Humane Society. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the SSM team at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care and support given during this time.
